Professional Development
Nelson Education is committed to providing support to teachers implementing
Ontario's new Mathematics curriculum through an extensive inservice program.
A team of teacher inservice leaders is ready to assist users of Nelson Education
Mathematics.
The Nelson Education Mathematics inservice team is prepared to offer
support in the following areas:
| Curriculum
Implementation |
This workshop focuses on a general overview of the curriculum,
highlighting changes from the previous curriculum, and what the changes
mean in terms of classroom delivery. |
| Resource
Implementation |
This workshop provides an overview of the curriculum
and the instructional design of the corresponding Nelson Education Mathematics
resources. |
| Assessment
and Evaluation |
This workshop helps teachers with planning using the
assessment tools in the Teacher's Resource binder, as well as the
corresponding features in the Student Text. |
| Integrated
Use of Technology |
This workshop will assist teachers in developing competence
integrating the use of technology (i.e., graphing calculators, Geometer's
Sketchpad, etc) in the delivery of the program. |
| Topic
Specific |
Nelson Education is willing to consider preparing topic specific
or customized workshops to further assist teachers in the delivery
of the program. |
